Hello Together,
Hope you’re doing well and managed to accomplish more than we did…..and that after we had so big plans for this week 😦
House
We had decided to put on some metal flashing around the house, so Frank started to remove all the ice shield overhang and painted the boards we had attached last week to be able to then just bend the metal around and not have to worry about painting afterwards.
Things went well and we just had to wait for the delivery of our roof shingles and the flashing. Every day we called and every day were told that they’d deliver next day. On Wednesday we were finally told that there was a back order and they’d probably deliver next week….what?! You must be kidding 😦
Nothing we could do about it, so Frank finished the inside and all of the sheet rock walls are now set’n done. By building his own “sheet rock wall holders”, he didn’t even need any help 😉
We really hope that they’ll deliver on Monday as we now have planned to start putting on the shingles on Tuesday. The weather’s supposed to be great this week, not too hot, not too cold, so that would work great………but, we’ll wait’n see ! Still does look better though now, than exactly one year ago 😉
Natures Art
As I was kind of frustrated, I decided to get moving and as Christmas is approaching faster than we all like, got out two applications for the Christmas Crafts Fairs in Lunenburg and New Ross.
Now the pressure is on to get enough things finished to fill the tables for those three fair days and I started to wrap my head around what I want to sell this year. Because of the torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder I’m not going to be able to do too much “real” woodwork, but did start cutting and sanding down wood for signs and candle holders……of course as usual it’s all left over wood from our building project.
Also still have these little wooden strawberry baskets that I found at the roadside during cleanup week and to pick up my mood and bring some color to my tables this year….cleaned and disinfected them and then gave a couple of them a bit of color 😉
I also got Frank to start to cut wood slices for my decorations (glasses, wreaths, etc) and actually this is only half of what I’ll need in the end………but it’s a start 🙂
For decorating wreaths and baskets I also started picking branches and gave them a little spray to, which will really brighten up everything quite a bit !
The baskets will first be filled with wood shavings which Frank makes with the chainsaw and then candles, soaps or……the latest idea…..pine cone fire starters! Not only do they look really pretty, but are very practical, smell great as they’re scented (Vanilla, Cinnamon & Apple Pie) and do really burn well and work great 🙂 !
Things in the Woods
After a short rainstorm mushrooms are just popping out of the ground, which isn’t unusual, but have you ever seen these ?? Anybody know if they’re edible ?
Clouds in the Sky
Yep…..we didn’t have that in a while so here this weeks favorites….although only mine…Frank finds them completely bland! What do you think?
A couple of people might have seen this photo already on our Instagram or Facebook pages
I took it yesterday morning and was absolutely trilled by the beautiful look of the rising sun and the colors…..until I later heard on the radio that Environment Canada had given out a statement that the colors and air quality were a result of the terrible fires out in British Columbia and the pollution that now has arrived 4400 km (linear distance) away on our side of the country. That really took the “beautiful” out of the picture. So horrible what is happening out there 😦
Animals of the Week
I know they look huge on the photo, but the leaf was actually only one inch large, which gives you an idea how small these little larvae really where!
When I heard the knocking on the other side of the lake I knew I must be a big one…..and it was a huge pileated woodpecker 🙂 !
At the place where we get our water filled up (we still have to buy drinking water) they have a wall with tons of really nice and funny photos of animals…..so I photographed the photos (that might also explain the poor quality, sorry !) and hope you’ll have a good laugh too 🙂
Coming to the End
Our week definitely didn’t go as planned, but we still got some things done and hope we’ll be able to pick up things next week………we’ll keep you posted!
Hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend and a smile on your face 🙂
Take care and all the best from us to you 🙂

26. Aug. 2018 – Grosse Plaene – K(l)eine Ergebnisse
Hallo Zusammen,
Was meint Ihr ?
