Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version

“Warm“ Welcome to you all 🙂

Well….and having finally finished the roof insulation ….. hopefully later it’ll be warm in our house too 😉

Insulation & More

As we have the bedrooms and bath on one side of the house separated by the walls (who knew 😉 ) a friend offered to stop by and give us a hand so Frank wouldn’t have to jump up and down the staging the whole time to get around.

The other side was easy to do then, so now that everything is insulated and covered with vapor barrier we can get the building inspector in next week and hopefully get that checked off our list too.

He also finished the maintenance door to access the attic

and the “runway board” will definitely make it easier to get to the installations above the insulation.

Looks so different with the insulation in and the floor cleaned up a bit !

Next week we’ll then get some gyp rock boards and look around for wood that we’ll take to cover the ceiling as right now we’re not exactly sure what we’re going to do. Same with colors for the walls……just got some of those sample cards for fun………..not going to be fun to decide as Frank and I are on quite different pages when it comes to that 😉

Spring Cleanup

The other thing we’re not so much on the same page about are my favorite times of the year……road side clean up time 🙂

When I come back from shopping and Frank opens the back of my truck cab, he’s just shaking his head on what he pulls out…….well “one man’s trash, is my treasure”…..okay first I have to invest a bit of work, but come on………besides the bad paint and some new wood for a seat……..this old chair is awesome and really sturdy

And this….. I admit I had no clue what it was, but I say it and had to have it. Weigh’s about a ton and don’t ask how long it took me to budge it on the back of the truck…….but I had to have it. When Frank saw it, he just looked at me and said “Are you kidding me……what do you want with an old table saw table ?(”…..Ahhh, that’s what it is 😉 )

I know it’s not a really  antique piece, but what stories could it tell !! And with a little TLC I’m sure I can make a nice little crafting table for candles and soap out of it 😉

Spring Time

Some nights still are around zero but days are getting warmer and what looks like this one day …..turns into this the next……amazing how that happens within 24 hours !

Even our dog decided it’s time to “take a stroll on the beach” and call it spring 😉

And it shouldn’t take too long before these little ones grow to  become a nice meal later this year…..if we should ever have the time to go fishing 😉

Coming To The End

When we enter the house now it really is a completely new feeling having a closed ceiling and a (halfways 😉 ) clean floor…..and we know if nothing goes wrong…..moving in this year should be possible.

Going to be nice to enjoy sunsets like these from the porch then 😉

Deutsche Version

13. Mai 2018 – Nun Wird’s Langsam “Gemuetlich” 😉

Ein recht “warmes” Willkommen Euch Allen 🙂

Nun, da wir endlich unser Dach isoliert haben, wird’s in Zukunft hoffentlich auch bei uns im Haus warm sein 😉

Isolierung & Mehr

Da wir Schlafzimmer, Buero und Bad auf einer Seite des Hauses haben, die ja durch Waende getrennt sind (ja, waer haette das gedacht 😉 ) hat ein Freund angeboten, Frank zur Hand zu gehen, damit er nicht immer von Leiter und Geruest hoch und runterspringen muss, um drumherum zu arbeiten.

Die andere Seite war dann kein Problem und nun da alles isoliert und mit Dampfsperre versehen und abgeklebt ist, kann der Bauinspektor naechste Woche kommen und dann hoffentlich wieder einen Punkt von seiner Liste abhaken.

Frank hat dann auch noch das Tuerchen zum Dachzwischenraum gesetzt.

Und mit dem Laufbrett ueber der Isolierung sind dann auch alle Installationen oberhalb gut erreichbar.

Wahnsinn, was es fuer einen Unterschied macht, jetzt wo die Isolierung drinund der Fussboden sauber (naja, so halbwegs 😉 ) ist!

Naechste Woche werden wir dann Rigipsplatten fuer die Waende besorgen und auch mal sehen, was fuer Holz wir zum Verkleiden der Decke verwenden werden. Genau so ist es mit Wandfarbe fuer’s Rigips…..habe spassenshalber mal ein Paar von den Farbkarten mitgebracht…..und ganz klar ist, dass Frank und ich uns natuerlich nicht spontan auf eine Farbe einigen koennen….das sollte also noch interessant werden 😉

Sperrmuellsammlung

Naechste Sache, wo wir uns nicht so einig sind, ist, wenn es um diese tolle Zeit geht, wo Menschen alle moeglichen Schaetze an den Strassenrand stellen, die nur darauf warten, eingesammelt zu werden…..nennt man wohl auch ziemlich veraechtlich  “Sperrmuell” 😉 Wenn ich also vom Einkaufen nach Hause komme und Frank die Klappe von meinem Pickuptruck (man, bin ich froh, dass ich so ein grosses Auto habe 😉 ) aufmacht, sieht man ihn nur noch den Kopf schuetteln und mich fragend ansehen, was ich da schon wieder angeschleppt habe…..klar, erstmal muss man ein wenig Arbeit investieren, aber mal ehrlich…..hier nur die alte Farbe runter und ein Stueck Holz als Sitzplatte zuschneiden………dieser alte Stuhl ist voellig in Ordnung und richtig stabil und schoen

Und das hier…..naja, ich geb zu, dass ich keine Ahnung hatte, was es war……es stand am Rand vor einer alten Scheune ich fand’s total schoen und interesant! Frag nicht nach Sonnenschein…..es wiegt bestimmt eine Tonne und ich hab ‘ne halbe Stunde gebraucht bis ich es irgendwie auf die Ladeflaeche gewuchtet habe…..aber egal, ich wollte es haben. Naja, zuhause angekommen, stand der “Kopfschuettler” schon wieder da und sagte nur “Soll das’n Witz sein….was willst Du denn mit dem alten Tischkreissaegentisch ? “   (…..ahhh, das ist es also 😉 !!)

Ich weiss auch, dass es keine richtig Antiquitaet ist, aber mit ein wenig Ausbessern, Schleifen und Beizen bin ich mir sicher, dass sich da ein netter, kleiner Arbeitstisch zum Kerzen und Seifenmachen draus zaubern laesst 😉

Wir kommen zum Ende

Mit der isolierten Decke und dem (naja, halbwegs) sauberen Fussboden, haben wir nun irgendwie wirklich das Gefuehl in ein Haus zu kommen…..und das Wissen, wenn nichts so richtig schiefgehen sollte, das wir noch dieses Jahr einziehen koennten……oh, das tut gut !

Wird auch nett sein, diese Sonnenuntergaenge dann von der Terrasse aus beobachten zu koennen 😉
