Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version

Happy Hello to You All 🙂

Seems summer and the crazy humidity aren’t going to stop any time soon and just want to make you hunker down somewhere cool and wait for it to be over……..so we’ll keep this post really short to make sure you can sit back and relax soon 😉

Ceiling

During the past week I was staining our ceiling boards….22 every day…I know isn’t much but the problem is that we don’t have a place where we can let them dry other than right beside where I stain them on the porch…..and that only gives you space for 22 boards. The other problem is the humidity….the label on the stain says…”dry after 12 hours. Time might exceed due to outside humidity”….well…..I guarantee that’s right because after 36 hours the boards still feel a bit damp and when we tried to set the first one, it had our fingerprints all over it, hence the gloves  😉

Next week Frank’ll get a helper for all the high up over head installation ,as I’ve finally got a diagnosis why my shoulder always hurts and they really don’t recommend working over head with a torn rotator cuff ….. I’m on the waiting list to see an orthopedic surgeon….estimated waiting time two years…..so I  have to tune down all real hard work if I want to be able to make it until then 😉 But we got the first couple of rows set…

House

Other work for this week will be to finish the dry walls inside and then start planning how and when to go on with the next out door project……..which is to build the connector building. This is the building which will hold our boiler, pressure tank and things like the washer and dryer. It actually the main entrance to the house and will connect the house to the garage……which we don’t have a clue when we’ll be able to build that 😉 Not this year, that’s for sure !

But, we have to get all of the foundation work done in Aug/Sep  so that we’ll have enough time to set up the building itself. It’ll be a stick frame structure and the wood for that is already here and just waiting for us. Still have to order the trusses and it’ll really be a tight job to get all of this finished before winter comes. But we have to do it…….otherwise we’ll have no water in the house……and as we tend to work better under pressure……….this should be really easy….hahaha  🙂 !!

Weather

As said, it’s really hot and humid, so then this also brought heavy rain with it one day with almost black sky and clouds….but when the sun broke through man, was that a sight

Animals of the Week  

Our hummingbirds are still going crazy and at times we now have 15 of them fight for the feeders which I have to refill almost every day !!

And Emmy…..well, she spends a lot of time in the really ugly, muddy ditches looking out for frogs 🙂

Coming to the End

As we’ve finished most of our “beside” jobs we can now (and have to) focus on working on our house again. So, next time there should be some new photos waiting for you and until then we wish you a great time and each now and then…. Do what you love and enjoy life….no matter the weather 😉 !

Deutsche Version

29 Juli 2018 – Und Weiter geht’s 

Ein Froehliches Hallo Euch Allen 🙂

Die Hitzewelle und die tropische Luftfeuchtigkeit bleiben uns scheinbar noch eine Weile erhalten und da mag man sich eigentlich nur irgendwo ein kuehles Plaetzchen suchen und warten, bis es vorbei ist….also, versuchen wir Euch dabei zu helfen und diesen Post kurz zu halten 😉

Decke

Waehrend der letzten Woche war ich u. a. dabei unsere Deckenbretter zu beizen….jeden Tag 22 Stueck…ja, hoert sich wirklich nicht viel an, aber, das Problem ist, dass wir keinen Platz haben, wo wir die Dinger zum Trocknen lagern koennten. Also, bleibt nur der Platz auf der Terrasse, der nicht mehr Bretter nebeneinander zu laesst. Das andere Problem ist die Luftfeuchtigkeit! Auf der Dose steht “Trocknungszeit 12 Std. Diese Zeit kann sich verlaengern, je nach aeusseren Umstaenden”…….ja, das kann ich unterschreiben….denn nach 36 Std. sind die Dinger immer noch klamm und als wir versucht haben, das erste Brett anzusetzen, konnten wir ueberall unsere Fingerabdruecke drauf sehen……..also, machen wir das Beste daraus….daher die weissen Handschuhe 😉

Naechste Woche hilft dann noch ein Bekannter aus, fuer die weitere, hohe Installation, wo man ueber Kopf arbeiten muss, denn ich hab endlich eine Diagnose, warum meine Schulter immer so wehtut….wieder ein Riss in der Rotatorenmanschette. Bin auf der Warteliste um einen Termin beim Orthopaeden zu bekommen….geschaetzte Wartezeit 2 Jahre….also, muss ich dann doch bei einigen Arbeiten zurueckstecken, wenn ich irgendwie diese Zeitspanne halbwegs ueberstehen will…..aber, heulen gilt nicht und die ersten paar Reihen sind geschafft 🙂

Haus

Ansonsten planen wir noch diese Woche die Rigipsplatten innen fertig zu montieren, damit die letzte Elektroabnahme gemacht werden kann und dann die Planung fuer die naechste Aussenarbeit zu starten….welche ist, das Verbindungsgebaeude zu bauen. Dort wird sich auch der eigentliche Haupteingang befinden und auch eine Art Hauswirtschaftsraum darstellen, wo wir Boiler, Wasserpumpe, Waschmaschine, Trockner, unterbringen und natuerlich spaeter mal den Durchgang von Garage zum Haus darstellen…….von welcher wir noch keine Ahnung haben, wann wir die mal bauen werden……dieses Jahr ganz bestimmt nicht mehr 😉 !

Die Erd- und Fundamentsarbeiten fuer das Verbindungsgebaeude muessen jedenfalls im Aug/Sep erledigt sein, damit wir noch genuegend Zeit haben, das Gebaeude selbst, noch vor dem Winter fertigzubekommen. Es wird in Holzstaenderbauweise gebaut und das Holz dafuer haben wir schon hier liegen. Muessen aber noch das Dachgeruest bauen und wir koennen nur hoffen, das der Winter spaet anfaengt, damit wir das noch alles schaffen. Es muss aber klappen, sonst werden wir kein Wasser im Haus haben…….naja, und da wir bekanntlich unter Druck am Besten arbeiten…..sollte das Alles ein Spaziergang werden………..hahaha…..hoffen wir mal, die Selbstmotivation erfuellt ihren Zweck  😉 !!

Wetter

Mit der hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit, kam auch ein Waermegewitter, das Himmel und Wolken fast schwarz faerbte….aber, was fuer ein Anblick, als die Sonne dann durchbrach

Tiere der Woche

Unsere Kolibris drehen immer noch voellig am Rad und zeitweise kaempfen 15 zur gleichen Zeit um einen Platz an den Futterstellen, die ich fast taeglich auffuellen muss !!

Und Emmy…, die kuehlt gern die Fuesse in dem wirklich eklig, schlammigem Graben und haelt nach Froeschen Ausschau…., naja, wem’s gefaellt 😉

Wir kommen zum Ende

Da wir die meisten unserer groesseren Nebenjobs fertiggestellt haben, koennen (und muessen) wir nun mehr Fokus auf die Arbeit an unserem Haus setzen. So sollten dann naechste Woche ein paar neue Fortschrittfotos auf Euch warten….und bis dahin wuenschen wir Euch dann erstmal eine gute Zeit und tut auch mal hin und wieder etwas, worauf Ihr wirklich Lust habt und geniesst das Leben…egal, wie das Wetter auch sein mag 😉 !
