Hope you’ve all been doing well over the past two weeks ?!
Here….well, let’s just say that things didn’t go as planned….but I think that’s what you call “life” 😉
Christmas Fair
I was running almost 24/7 to get everything prepared and done for the first big event of the year and don’t know what happened but I felt really bad on Friday and if I decide to lay down and sleep…you can be sure I’m sick. Don’t know what I came down with but on Saturday morning I was flat on my back and poor Frank saved my day jumping in the truck at 5 in the morning and driving up the 300 km to do the fair instead of me …..so he was my hero of the day 🙂
And his stand…….no so bad for the first time 🙂
Connector Building
After the building inspector was happy and gave his okay to proceed Frank jumped into action and started setting up the electrical services……..don’t know how he knows how to do that…..but it worked out 😉
Then the fun part of setting the gyp rock walls started and instead of getting one of those “board hold and lift” units……well, we prefer the “hands on hold and lift thingy” …. Why can’t we ever go the easy way 😉 ??
But, the room is almost finished and I can’t believe that we really have an appointment for next week for the boiler to be installed and hooked up !! I’ll believe it when I see it 😉
Camper Shed
We had tons of rain over the past couple of weeks and the wear and tear on the ice and shield wrap on the roof of the camper shed had gotten to the point where there rain ran through and the OSB boards where so soaked that it was constantly dripping onto the camper. Even if we should somehow manage to move into the house in the winter, I’ll still be using the camper for crafting, so when it didn’t rain the other day, we got up there and put some new wrap on.
No moment to early as THIS is something that’ll happen more often now 😉
Weather
Not only did we have a lot of rain, but also some really cold and windy days……which still leave us with the most beautiful sunrises and –sets
And also with the awesome “embeds” of branches in the frozen ice on the shoreline 🙂
Coming to the End
We’re working double shifts right now to get things done and hope to be able to move into the house this year….but we’ve gotten careful with our predictions and don’t want to set our hopes too high. As it’s not only the house but also big preparations for the next fair in two weeks at Lunenburg we really don’t know if we’ll get a blog done for next week……..but in case there should be anything great happening….be sure we’ll drop a note to let you know 😉

18. Nov. 2018 – Vaeterchen Frost Im Anmarsch 😉
Hallo Zusammen 🙂
Wir hoffen, Euch ist’s gut ergangen waehrend der letzten zwei Wochen ?!
Hier….naja, sagen wir mal einfach, die Dinge sind nicht ganz so verlaufen wie geplant….aber, das nennt man, glaube ich, “Leben” 😉
Weihnachtsmarkt
Ich war naemlich fast rund um die Uhr damit beschaeftigt, alles fuer den ersten Weihnachtsmarkt vorzubereiten und fertigzumachen und ich hab keine Ahnung, was es dann war, aber am Freitag ging es mir schon ziemlich schlecht und wenn ich mich freiwillig hinlege um zu schlafen….dann kann man sicher sein, dass ich krank bin. Keine Ahnung, was es war, aber Samstag frueh ging gar nichts mehr und so ist der arme Frank dann spontan morgens um 5 ins Auto gesprungen und die 300 km hochgefahren, um an meiner statt, den Marktstand zu machen……mein Held des Tages 🙂
Und sein Stand…….nicht so schlecht fuer’s erste Mal 🙂 !
Verbindungsgebaeude
Nachdem der Bauinspektor ja mit dem was er gesehen hat zufrieden war, ist Frank dann wieder von der “Marktfrau” zum “Elektriker mutiert” und hat angefangen im Verbindungsgebaeude die gesamte Elektrik fuer alle moeglichen Hauswirtschaftsgeraete zu verlegen……keine Ahnung, woher er weiss, was man wie und wofuer macht….aber, es klappt 😉
Dann konnten wir anfangen, die Rigipswaende zu stellen und anstatt einen von diesen praktischen Platten Hebe/Haltern zu mieten, mussten wir natuerlich wieder mit der “Marke Eigenbau” Hebe/Halte “Anlage” unser Glueck versuchen…….klappt ja, aber warum koennen wir nie den einfachen Weg nehmen 😉 ??
Aber, der Raum ist fast fertig und ich kann nicht glauben, dass wir fuer kommende Woche tatsaechlich einen Termin haben, um einen Boiler installiert zu bekommen !! Ich glaub’s auch erst, wenn ich’s sehe 😉
Wohnwagenunterstand
Waehrend der letzten Wochen hatten wir teilweise sehr schwere Regenfaelle und die Wetterfolie, die nun zwei Jahre lang auf dem Dach vom Unterstand ihren Dienst geleistet hatte, war so undicht, dass selbst die dicken USB Platten durchweichten und es staendig auf den Wohnwagen tropfte. Selbst wenn wir es irgendwie hinbekommen sollten im Winter ins Haus einzuziehen, werde ich den Wohnwagen weiterhin fuer dieses Jahr zum Basteln, Seife- und Kerzenmachen, nutzen. Als es dann also einen Tag mal trocken war, ging’s rauf auf’s Dach und wir haben neue Folie gelegt und befestigt.
Keinen Moment zu frueh wie’s scheint….denn DAS hier kam vor zwei Tagen runter….und davon gibt’s bestimmt bald noch mehr 😉
Wetter
Wir hatten nicht nur reichlich Regen, sondern auch viel eiskalten Wind…..der uns aber trotzdem die schoensten Sonnenauf- und –untergaenge beschert hat
Und wieder fuer tolle “gefrorene Anblicke” der Aeste am Uferrand gesorgt hat 🙂
Wir kommen zum Ende
Zur Zeit sind Doppelschichten angesagt, damit wir es vlt. wirklich noch irgendwie schaffen, dieses Jahr ins Haus zu kommen….aber, wir haben inzwischen gelernt, mit unseren Prognosen vorsichtig zu sein und die Hoffnungen nicht zu hoch zu stecken. Da wir nicht nur ums und im Haus herumwirbeln, sondern auch noch reichlich Vorbereitungen fuer den naechsten Weihnachtsmarkt in zwei Wochen in Lunenburg zu treffen haben, muessen wir mal sehen, wie und ob wir das mit einem Blog in der Zeit hinbekommen….aber, sollte irgendetwas Grossartiges passieren…..dann seid mal sicher, dass wir Euch das wissen lassen werden 😉
Bis dahin….lasst’s Euch gut gehen und geniesst das Leben….denn es ist bekanntermassen zu kurz, um auch nur eine Minute zu verschwenden !
Restless Roots 
Hi guys. Glad to see you are doing ok, except for your illness that kept you from attending the craft fair. But, it looks like Frank did a good job in your place. The weather there sounds about like here, windy and rainy, and we had an ice storm a few days ago. Your pics are stunning, as always. Thank you for always sharing your beautiful surroundings with us. Ein Hallo diesmal auch wieder von mir. Liebe Manuela, ich hoffe sehr, du fühlst dich inzwischen wieder besser. Gern erwischt es einen aus heiterem Himmel – und sehr gern zum unpassendsten Zeitpunkt. Ich finde es schon klasse, dass Frank kurzerhand eingesprungen ist! Beim nächsten Markt in Lunenburg kannst du sicher selbst vor Ort sein. Ich drücke jedenfalls die Daumen.
Und wieder sieht es gleich ganz anders aus im Verbindungsraum, wenn von innen die Verkleidung voranschreitet! Das geht ja immer zack, zack bei euch! (Selbst mit den selbstkonstruierten Helferlein, die bestimmt schwieriger zu fixieren sind als die Profiausrüstung, die man teuer mieten kann.) Auch sehr schön, dass der Bauinspektor nichts auszusetzen hatte und die Arbeit nicht ins Stocken gerät!
Fällt doch tatsächlich schon Schnee in Nova Scotia! Das sieht allerdings fantastisch aus, was sich da für Eisgebilde entwickelt haben! Tolle Fotos!
Kommt gut weiter, nur übenehmt euch nicht bei den vielen Doppelschichten, die anfallen!

Hallo liebe Michele,
ja, es geht voran und das muss es auch, denn der Winter kommt mit riesigen Schritten naeher und wenn es ein solcher wird wie prognostiziert…..dann schaffen wir das diesmal nicht im Wohnwagen zu ueberwintern!
Es waere schoen (und auch dringend notwendig) eine Pause zu machen……aber, solange wir nicht unten bleiben koennen, muessen wir durchziehen.
Gesundheitlich…..naja, ich hab vor ein paar Tagen nochmal “eins auf den Kopf” bekommen……ein anaphylaktischer Schock…..nach einem Loeffel Honig. Wusste nicht, dass ich dagegen auf einmal allergisch bin. Es war mehr als knapp, denn ich war allein und musste das hier im Wohnwagen durchstehen…..aber, es war noch nicht meine Zeit. Nicht viel, was man dann machen kann, wenn man so lebt wie wir…..dessen muss man sich einfach bewusst sein.
Bin also noch ein wenig wakelig, aber wir haben das Zwischengebaeude fertig verkleidet und bereiten gerade alles vor fuer die Installation des Boilers und werden anfangen, die Rigipswaende zu fuellen und schleifen…….es geht also voran 🙂
Morgen soll es wieder schneien und die Temperaturen auf -12 abfallen………es wird also definitiv Winter 😉

wie schoen, von Dir zu hoeren! Ja, der Markt war nicht gerade “um die Ecke” und war hoch Richtung Prinz Edward Island.
Da ist der arme Frank schon ein wenig unterwegs gewesen!
Ansonsten geht’s hier langsam aber sicher voran……..muss es auch…….soll lt. “Farmers Almanach” ein richtig harter Winter werden
und wenn das so wird…….dann schaffen wir nicht noch einen Winter im Camper.
Also, Arschbacken zusammenkneifen und durch 😉

Awww…Frank did a great job with your Christmas table, so sweet. You both need a break for sure. I hope you are feeling better and please rest. My daughter came down with a cold too and I am always telling her to rest, eat more fruit and wear a jacket early in the morning when she heads out for the day. I tell my son the same thing. So please take some time off. I do love seeing your post and what you all are up to but sometimes it is so much work added to our already busy lives, so thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and fun adventures in building your home. I know how hard it is to try to do it all. We are celebrating Thanksgiving this week here in America and hopefully will get a chance to head up north to Our Little Red House (As long as there is no snow that is, that road is scary) I hope you have new photos and posts to share with you later on that. Oh and I am nominating your site for the Versatile Blogger award. I still need to write that up, been a little busy myself. No need to participate but wanted to let you know I love your site. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and stay healthy, happy and safe over there.

Another nomination……OMG !! That is so sweet of you………and I haven’t even thanked you officially on my site for the last one 😦 I’m so sorry about that and really have to catch up on that next time.
You know how it is…..life is not only about the things we blog about, but there’s usually so much more going on besides.
Thanks for your kind words and worries …….. but as long as we’re not sure we can get down into the house there’s no way we can take a brake.
They’re predicting a harder than usual winter and we know that in that case we’ll not make it in the camper then…..so we’re pulling as hard as we can.
We are definitely going to need a brake, but first we have to be sure we’re going to be warm and safe.
Health wise……don’t ask…..was just getting better when I had an anaphylactic shock a couple of days ago…..I just had a nice spoon with honey.
Well, seems I’m allergic to that now. I was really bad. I was in and out of conscious, couldn’t move my arms or legs because the body shut down completely and I was home alone. Well……seems I have a really strong heart and it’s not my time. It’s my second one in 6 month and everybody tells me I can be glad I’m still alive as I never got any professional help.
Well….I am happy and life is great 🙂 !!
So,…..no time to rest yet…..but we’re getting closer every day!

O my answered my question there on the fair 😦 all the stress and preparations it takes to make fairs happen and then that. I must say you are one lucky woman to have such a thoughtful husband. Not to many would step up and do that, pat on the back for him. Hope whatever you had worked through the system quickly.
