Hello Together 🙂
Hope your week felt a bit cooler than ours ! It was so hot and humid here that, when Frank came up to the camper to get something to drink, he thought he’d really have to take a break because he having pink circles in front of his eyes on …..not noticing that it was spray paint from me spraying some little basket to see what they’d look like with some color, if I’d use them as little gift baskets 🙂
Porch Progress
I’d love to say that it’s finished, but Frank really had a hard time figuring out the angle and how to set up the beams so that it would look nice and fit well as the architectural drawing unfortunately don’t give any measurements or details how it was to be done. With a little trial and error he finally found a solution we were happy with could start to finish up that corner.
We started putting up the OSB boards then but by the time we got to do that the weather forecast was calling for some rain. He had just sanded down the corner logs again as they had gotten dark and wanted to prevent them from getting wet, so we rather started to cover the roof with the weather shield tar and will finish the last couple of OSB boards next week.
It’s amazing how large the deck now seems with the roof on top………yep, we can see ourselves sitting there one fine day, enjoying the view, no matter rain or shine 🙂
Nature Photos
Due to the heat we got up really early to get things done and I got this shot of the morning mist hovering over the end of the lake and in the afternoon when a bit of wind came up just taking a break down by the water was so nice
This is actually the only cloud photo I have this week……..but I really like how they just seem to “crawl” over the woods on the other side
Animals of the week
On my way to town I saw this huge Osprey nest on a power pole close to the road, but when I stopped the Osprey took off, encircled me a couple of times and returned……….the pictures really don’t give back the huge wing span of about 5-6 ft. that they have !
Some of you commented on how sweet the little baby birds where and already know what happened….the next morning the Blue Jays found the nest and the only thing they left was the little egg ….really sad, but unfortunately the other side of Mother Nature
It was interesting to see that even the hummingbirds suffered from the heat….as you could see one during the day…..early evening was when the all came back…..but then we had seven of them fighting over one of the feeders………here’s the winner 😉
Emmy ….. well she has her own way of dealing with the heat …… she lays down in the sun and starts panting until her tongue seems bigger than her head 😉
Only then to go into the house finding a spot on the old couch which friends of our gave us so that WE have something to sit on…….well, the poor dog really needed a spot to lay down 😉
Coming to the end
As we have a big job coming up next week, we’ll probably not be able to do anything on the house and as we know that you all have tons of things on your mind too……..we decided to give you a break and get back to you in two weeks when we hopefully have some progress we can show you.
So, enjoy your “restless-roots vacation” and we’d be glad to see you back here on July 22nd …. Until then….have a wonderful time and enjoy life with your family and friends.
See ya 😉

08. Juli 2018 – Was fuer eine Hitzwelle !
Hallo Zusammen 🙂

Glad you are surviving the heat wave. The lake looks so incredibly inviting as a refreshing respite from the heat. Poor Emmy, our boxer, Amber, does the same thing. When we let her out she flops down in the sun and starts panting. Lol. Silly dogs. Be safe doing your work, and, as always, thanks for sharing your home and beautiful surroundings with us. Take car my friends.

Yeah, it’s really funny dogs do that…..on the other hand they choose to, so they’ll have a reason and after a while I admit she looks for a shady spot 😉
I thank you so much for your kind words and the time you take to read and comment what we do….hope you know how much we appreciate this.
Thank you and all the best to you and your loved ones 🙂
