Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version
Happy Easter to you all !
I really wanted to take a new picture of our little Easter dog, but all of our decorations and supplies are still somewhere in one of the many moving boxes in the shed, so this one will have to do for now……but honestly I still find it too cute 😉
House
After a couple of days getting our paperwork ready to do our taxes we’re finally back to “real” work …….starting to wire the house 🙂
Took a lot of measuring and planning where we want what kind of switch or outlet and how much wire we need. Isn’t that easy either because there are so many different types of wires each serving other purposes, i. e. smoke detectors, kitchen plugs, water & heat pump, water heater…..each item has its own type of wire which is part of the building code. And we don’t want to mess with that 😉
We just hope that we understood everything correctly and won’t mess up the installation too much ;-). Hopefully the weather will cooperate and finally warm up, so we can then run the main cable from the shed through the underground culvert down to the house. Might take a while to do all of that as we’ve never wired a complete house before but it’s really nice to finally move forward and start making some progress again! Well at least the cables for water and heat pump, washer, dryer and water heater are in place 🙂
Woodworking & Crafts
After hours of sanding the bed is finally finished and can be delivered next week. As the customer didn’t want a box spring Frank built a slatted frame which we’ve done before and really works well.
I really want to get more into making decorative soap so I thought I’d give it a try with something nice and colorful and also some fun give away Easter themed embedded soaps……so here’s the “making of” my candy and Easter bunny rainbow soaps:
They’re not perfect, but they were so much fun to make and one day will be a nice addition to the other crafts I sell ….. of course after getting through all the paperwork necessary where you have to declare all items and supplies you use and only after getting the permit by Health Canada you’re allowed to sell soap as it’s considered a “cosmetic”!
Weather
There was some odd weather last week and when we woke up one morning the top of the lake had frozen again and created some really unusual patterns on top……kind of looks like the rings on a map! It’s just a mix of snow and really sparkling ice…..and I find it looks so nice…but one can’t expect anything different when Mother Nature starts to create her art 😉
Two days later the rings started to disappear and it rather started to look as if roots started growing from the thawing shoreline

As I drove back from town the other day I came around a corner and saw some deer stand in the distance who, when I came closer took off in that so effortless looking jumping way

01, Apri 2018 – Als Haetten Wir Es Nicht Geahnt…..Der Osterhase Ist Ein Hund 😉
Hallo und ein Frohes Osterfest Euch Allen 🙂
Gern haette ich mal ein neues Foto von unserem kleinen Osterhund gemacht, aber, die ganze Deko ist noch immer in irgendwelchen Umzugskartons im Schuppen gelagert, also musste dieses Bild wieder “herhalten”…..aber, um ganz ehrlich zu sein….ich finde es auch einfach zu suess 😉
Haus
Nachdem wir ein paar Tage damit beschaeftigt waren, alle Papiere fuer unsere Steuererklaerung fertigzubekommen, sind wir nun wieder dabei “richtige” Arbeit zu machen………wir haben naemlich endlich mit dem Verkabeln im Haus angefangen 🙂
Es war ein endloses Messen und Planen, wo welche Steckdose, Lichtschalter und Lampe hin soll, wo entlang verlegt werden kann und wie viel von welcher Art Kabel dafuer benoetigt wird, denn natuerlich brauchen Rauchmelder, Kabel in der Kueche, Wasser-, oder Waermepumpe, Boiler, etc, etc, jeder eine andere Art Kabel und Absicherung, wenn man sich an die Bauvorschriften haelt…..und da wollen wir natuerlich keine Fehler machen 😉
Wir hoffen nur, dass wir alles richtig verstanden haben und nicht zu viel Mist machen 😉 Auch, muss das Wetter mitmachen, damit wir dann das Hauptstromkabel vom Schuppen durch das unterirdisch verlegte Rohr zum Haus durchziehen koennen. Wird bestimmt alles etwas laenger dauern, da wir noch nie ein ganzes Haus verkabelt haben, aber es tut einfach gut sich wieder zu “bewegen” und ein paar Fortschritte zu erzielen! Die Kabel fuer Wasser – und Waermepumpe, Waschmaschine, Trockner und Boiler sind jedenfalls gezogen 🙂
Holz – und Bastelarbeiten
Nachdem wir das Bett stundenlang abgeschliffen haben und Frank noch Lattenroste eingebaut hat, ist das Bett nun endlich fertig zum Ausliefern.
Ich moechte ja noch im Bereich von dekorativer Seife arbeiten und dachte, ich versuche es einfach mal mit etwas nettem, farbenfrohem und passend zum Osterfest, ein paar Seifen mit “Einlage”, die man verschenken kann……hier also der “Werdegang” zu Bonbon- und Osterhasenseife:
Nicht perfekt, aber es hat super viel Spass gemacht und solche “Themenseife” wird hoffentlich eine gute Ergaenzung zu den anderen Sachen sein, die ich dann auf dem Markt verkaufen kann. Allerdings gilt Seife als Kosmetik, also muss ich dafuer erstmal eine Genehmigung meiner verwendeten Materialien bei der canadischen Gesundheitsbehoerede beantragen. “Deutsche Ordnung” muss halt sein 😉
Wetter
Es war ein ganz seltsamer Wetterwechel in der vergangenen Woche und als wir einen Morgen aufgewacht sind, war die Seeoberflaeche wieder angefroren und hatte dabei ganz ungewoehnliche Muster entwickelt…….die aussahen wie die Ringe auf einer Landkarte! Dabei immer im Wechsel ein Ring Schnee, und glaenzende Eiskristalle……es sah richtig schoen aus…..aber was will man anderes Erwarten, wenn Mutter Natur anfaengt ihre Kunst zu kreieren 😉
Zwei Tage spaeter fingen die Ringe an zu verschwinden und von der dann angetauten Uferfront sah es aus, als ob Wurzeln rauswachsen wuerden
Tiere der Woche
Als ich aus der Stadt heimfuhr und um eine Ecke bei uns kam, standen dort ein paar Rehe, die, als ich naeher heran fuhr, in ihrer leichtfuessigen Art “davonflogen”

I just got online and saw this photo…so funny. Your dog is quite the character. Also your bed turned out beautiful. Soap are so fun to make, some of those artists soaps get really expensive. love the colors and bunny soaps you made. As always I love all the photos you share especially anything that has to do with nature and animals. Have a great Easter.

Thank you so much! Can’t imagine how nice it must be to have warm weather….although if it’s too hot I’d be complaining again 😉 We’re down to around zero today but hey, could be worse and snowing…..so we’re fine 🙂

Hi Mike, thanks so much ! Yes, sometimes you really have to learn to take your time and “see”! Nope, you didn’t miss the “big NSPC inspection” the one we had passed and mentioned in last weeks blog was only for the solar installation and hook ups. Now we’re starting to wire and set up everything in the house, then get the electrician to do a hook up, which the inspector (hopefully) will approve. That’s the “rough inspection” then……no walls no insulation allowed then. After that we can start to set the walls, insulate the ceiling etc., then follows the final inspection for the house. Will take a while to get that done as we’re still learning and of course have to follow all the rules and regulations of the building code about the different types of wires, distances, etc, etc…but, we’ll get it done eventually 😉 Have a wonderful day and cheers to Cape Breton !

Frohe Ostern an den See……
Das Bett ist ja echt schön geworden, da wird man ja direkt neidisch….ich nehme an euer Kunde ist irgendwo in der Nähe (denn verschicken kann ja nicht klappen, obwohl…kaputt gehen kann ja Nichts :-)).
Und jetzt Strippen ziehen – das ist nur was für Menschen mit Geduld, aber immerhin müsst ihr keine Schlitz kloppen ;-). Denke mal, die Denksportaufgabe hat Frank lange bewältigt, persönlich habe ich eher die Erfahrung gemacht, dass ich immer irgendwas dabei vergesse….äähemm !
Sehr schön dass es weiter geht und ihr euch nicht mehr mit langen Bürokraten-Tiraden aufhalten müsst!

vielen Dank fuer’s Kompliment 🙂 ! Ja, Kunde ist soweit happy, will aber noch ein Brett am Fussende als Abschluss haben…..soll er bekommen….Kunde ist ja schliesslich Koenig 😉 Nun auch noch ein paar Nachttische im Baumstammdesign dazu….kiregen wir auch noch hin. Nee, verschicken ist nicht….50 km ist er aber nur entfernt und das passt schon.
Dadurch verzoegert sich alles bei uns etwas, aber watt mutt, datt mutt 🙂 Ich hab keine Ahnung, wie Frank den Ueberblick behaelt, wo welches Kabel hin soll und vorallem, welches Kabel es dann sein muss….aber, ich halt mich raus, folge Anweisungen und werde ja sehen, wo es dann spaeter funkt und knallt 😉
Hoffe, die erste Woche “Rentnerdasein” bekommt Dir und bin mir sicher, dass Du nicht unter Langerweile leiden wirst!!
